Manhasset-Lakeville Makes Quick Work of House Fire In Flower Hill

On Friday, February 28th, 2014 at 4:24PM, Manhasset-Lakeville Fire Department Companies 1, 2, 3 and the Ambulance Unit were toned out to 8 Old Pine Drive in the Village of Flower Hill. Chief of Department Pisani (8702) was the first unit to respond and was advised of a 9-1-1 hang up reporting a house fire at the location. Chief Pisani arrived on scene three minutes later and reported that he had "smoke showing" and requested that the Firefighter Assist and Search Team (FAST) be notified to respond. After locating a fire in a room on the first floor of the 2 ½-story private dwelling, Chief Pisani transmitted a “Signal 10” for a working house fire.

Engine 8712 and Quint 8728 were the first two pieces of fire apparatus on the scene. The crew of Engine 8712 stretched a 1" ¾ hose line, while the crew from Quint 8728 performed searches and vented. The crews from Engine 8735 and Tower Ladder 8724 assisted the first-due units and also checked for any extension. All searches throughout were negative and there was very minor extension to the floor above. The Port Washington Fire Department responded to the scene as the Firefighter Assist and Search Team (FAST) with Rescue 8522 and Assistant Chief Vogley (8502).

The main body of fire was knocked down rather quickly and the scene was placed under control within twenty minutes. The Nassau County Fire Marshal’s office was called to the scene and is currently investigating the cause of the fire. All units were released from the scene by Chief Pisani in an hour.
